A Miami artist is facing jail time after creating what he feels are works of art.
Enrique Gomez De Molina creates sculptures from the different parts of animals and some of the parts he uses has gotten him into hot water with the authorities. He pleaded guilty to illegally importing parts from endangered species to create the sculptures.
The various animal parts were smuggled in from areas all over the world. Some of the parts include cobras, orangutans, hawk-eagles as well as a slow loris and a mouse deer.
De Molina displays these works of art in a local Miami gallery and also sells them with sales of some pieces reaching as high as $100,000.
