In what is being called a rare attack on Shiites, a Pakistani extremist group claimed responsibility for a series of coordinated bombings aimed at Afghan Shiites in hopes that it will bring more instability to an already unstable country. The attacks are believed to have killed at least 63 Shiite worshipers on Ashura, which marks the death of Shiite Islam’s holiest martyr.
