Man With Down Syndrome Beaten By Police
A family is speaking out after their special needs son was beaten by police after police stopped him on a suspected weapons possession. 22 year-old Gilberto Powell, who has Down Syndrome, was stopped on his way home after policed suspected he was carrying a weapon. After Gilberto tried to run away the officer conducting the search slapped Gilberto to the ground. Gilberto was left with several bruises and a swollen eye. Gilberto’s family says the officer should have recognized Gilberto had special needs.
Melbourne Police Officer Arrested For Writing Tickets Based On Race
A Melbourne, FL police officer has been arrested after an investigation found that he was pulling drivers over and writing them tickets based on their race. Investigators watched video footage of officer Frank Carter pulling over drivers who had not violated any traffic laws and still proceeded to write them tickets. Carter was arrested and has since bonded out of jail. So far no word on whether he will loose his job.
Police Shootout Leaves Two Innocent Bystanders Dead
Police in New York have released shocking video footage of a violent shootout in Brooklyn that left two people dead, including an innocent bystander. Police say Leroy Webster shot and killed 29 year-old Eusi “Randy” Johnson in Crown Heights. The shooting was captured on surveillance video. In the video, police say you can see Johnson and several others running away after Webster shot Johnson. After Johnson was shot, police say Webster chased Johnson as he takes off down the street, firing again in his direction. Police say officers then arrived on the scene and Webster runs back to the building’s front door. Officers ordered Webster to drop his gun, but said Webster instead shoots at the cops. The video shows Webster gets shot by officers. He falls to the ground but is seen firing again at police.
