A Vietnamese man, who developed a tumor on his leg at the age of 6, finally had the tumor removed after it reached a weight of nearly 200-pounds.
Nguyen Duy Hai, 32, underwent a 12-hour surgery to remove the tumor and is said to be recovering. While the tumor was not cancerous, it was beginning to consume vital nutrients from his body. The sheer size alone made it difficult for Hai to get around and was also causing a strain on his already weakened heart.
Dr. Mckay Mckinnon, a U.S. surgeon, performed the surgery at no cost. The remaining $12,000 needed for hospital stay, etc was raised by charity.
